Ionian Kadesha, Violin

Ionian Kadesha was born in August 1992 in Athens. He started to study the violin aged 4 with his father and began to perform in public a year later. In May 2000 at the age of 8 years, he took part in the International Musicalia competition in Athens where he received an honourable prize and given a special award for his interpretation of Greek music.

Continuing his academic and music studies he won first prize with a gold medal at the Conservatory of Athens in 2003. The same year, aged 11 years, he astonished the Jury - including Caroline Haffner - at the New Virtuosos International Competition at the Festival Paganini in Wrocslaw, Poland with his mesmerizing performance of talent and maturity. By far the youngest participant he was awarded a second prize.

In 2004 he attended Salvatore Accardo's masterclass at the Chigiana Music Academy in Siena, Italy and then became Maestro Accardo's student at the Stauffer Academy of Cremona, Italy. He recorded Wieniawski's Second Concerto for Violin and Orchestra with Maestro Andreas Pilarinos and the National Symphony Orchestra, EPT. He has appeared on television for music and for children's programmes. He won first prize at the Songs of our Land in Albania. He is currently studying with Grigory Zhislin and in October 2006 is the youngest competitor at the Wieniawski International Violin Competition.
